Every woman deserves to have a shoe named after her.
CELEBRATING WOMEN
“Every woman deserves to have a shoe named after her, so we name all shoes after the wonderful, strong women around us”.
The above philosophy belongs to roccamore, a Danish brand for comfortable high heels. Redefining what heels should feel like, both physically and emotionally, roccamore’s founder Frederikke Schmidt is well onto her mission to change women’s lives forever. And as her brand has grown remarkably for the last three years, there is no doubt she is onto something game-changing.
“We get inspired by women with special stories, who dare to stand up for who they are and celebrate it unapologetically, who carry a little bit of a rebel inside them. And in turn, we hope to inspire more women to do the same”, says Frederikke.
Her words have resonated with the roccamore community of shoe lovers, turning it to what it is today: a place where women build each other up and celebrate each other.
Here are some of the fantastic ladies behind roccamore’s best-selling heels:
Charlie
Charlie's Angels was the 70s tv-show about female power and independence. Farrah Fawcett and her two co-stars were the first female superheroines to be seen on TV - intelligent, strong and fearless.
The show divided critics on the matter of appearance: half of them thought the leading ladies have too much sex appeal. Roccamore, however, teams with the other half - sex appeal is healthy, feminine and nothing to be ashamed of.
Dusty
Dusty Springfield is said to be among the best female rock artists of all time. She is a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and UK Music Hall of Fame, and international polls constantly rank her as rock’s most influential female artist.
Her style - peroxide blonde hairstyle, evening gowns, and smokey make-up, as well as her passionate performances, made her an icon of the sixties. Completely in love with her craft, Dusty didn’t let her breast cancer diagnosis stop her from making music and performing live.
Sandi
Sandie Toksvig is a British-Danish writer, comedian, and radio producer. She is also a political activist, with her passion for gender equality leading her to co-founding the Women's Equality Party in 2015.
It was having three young children with her then female partner, that made her decide to come out as a lesbian in 1994. She later said she did not want her kids to grow up ashamed of having two mothers. Toksvig was warned she might never work again; the family faced death threats and had to go into hiding. That did not stop her from living on her own terms, and today she is happily (and legally) married.
Foxy Lady
Foxy Lady was inspired by all the women who supported roccamore as a brand from the very beginning. She is a tribute to the classic beauty, timeless style and rebellious nature inside each and every one of us. There is character in the cut, the heel, and certainly in the women who wear it. “Yes she's a lady, but she's foxy”, sums up Frederikke.
Daisy
Named after Daisy from The Great Gatsby, this is a dedication to one of the greatest literature classics. The love of his life, Gatsby travelled the world and threw a thousand parties, just hoping to see her again.
Daisy had her unique ways that made her attractive, like her romantic, almost naive views of live. And while the story did have a tragic end, it also reminds us to preserve some of that feminine optimism and gentleness we all carry inside.
