Why we named a shoe after a leading business woman
INSPIRED BY REAL ROLE MODELS
“Every woman deserves to have a shoe named after her, so we name all shoes after the wonderful, strong women around us”.
We at roccamore have always believed in these words, courtesy of our founder Frederikke Schmidt. Our inspiration comes from women who dare to stand up for who they are, and who carry a little bit of a rebel inside them.
Roccamore’s bestselling pump Mia is just the example of that.
The beautiful heels in lipstick red were named after Mia Wagner, one of the leading business ladies in Denmark. As CEO of Freeway and active investor in startups, she fights against the gender prejudices in the business world and aims to inspire young women to stand up for themselves.
Mia
Why we chose Mia Wagner? As a female business owner, Frederikke has at times experienced condescending and patronizing behaviour towards herself and fellow women in business. That, in combination with the (still existing) gender gap and the few female role models in business, results in less young girls pursuing their entrepreneurial dreams. This is why it is of vital importance to acknowledge and celebrate successful business ladies, and why we named this feminine and bold shoe after Mia.
A NEW COLLECTION
Mia’s popularity in our shop led to many customers requesting we make new colour variations of the same style. And as always, we listened! With time, the beautiful asymmetric double-strap design with pointy toe was introduced in three news colours.
These are the shoes to wear for a job interview, for an important presentation, or to a salary negotiation - they are bound to make you stand taller and feel (even more) confident. And of course, they are named after fellow fantastic women, just like yourself.
Marylou
Mary Lou Retton was the first-ever American woman to win an all-around gold medal at the Olympics, in 1984. At the same event, she won four additional medals and was named Sportswoman of the Year. She was only 16 at the time, and we can’t help but admire her dedication and discipline.
Zoe
Vicki Zoe is a Danish-based paper artist and a passionate storyteller. Following her own aesthetic, she built a life around her unique passion for paper art. Vicky Zoe is a strikingly artistic and visual person, who has an eye for details in our surroundings - and transforms them into art.
Eve
An inspiring business lady, Eva Berneke loves a good challenge. She is an ambitious mother of four, CEO of KMD, and on the Board of Lego. We see her as an inspiration for younger women to reach for the stars and stand by their work ethic.
